Youghal is a great base for exploring the South East

Youghal has numerous attractions to keep you busy. But if you want to see more of Ireland, Youghal is the perfect base to explore the rich heritage, beautiful countryside, and entertainments of the whole south coast.

Popular nearby attractions include Waterford Crystal, Cobh (Queentown and the Titanic), Kinsale, Jameson Irish Whiskey Centre, Blarney, Rock of Cashel, Fota Golf Club and the Old Head of Kinsale Golf Club are all within easy driving distance. Killarney, the Beara Peninsula,Kenmare and the ring of kerry are just a little further.

  • 20 minute drive: Midleton Distillery, County Cork Films, guides and tastings impart the secret of one of Ireland’s most famous whiskeys. The 15-acre site still features the original kilns and mills, dating back over 230 years.  
  • 25 minute drive: Lismore Castle, County Waterford: Some years before he was imprisoned in the Tower of London in 1602, the explorer Sir Walter Raleigh acquired Lismore Castle. The man had taste. This huge riverside castle estate is a Waterford icon and available for hire by groups or families.  
  • 1 hour drive: Copper Coast Geopark, County Waterford: Named after the metal-mining industry that struck up here in the 1800s, this is a particularly beautiful stretch of Waterford’s coast. Declared a UNESCO Global Geopark, the diverse topography here traces tangible Ice Age origins.
