Our family have been running Ahernes since 1923. Originally set up as a traditional pub and shop selling everything from a pint of Guinness to a pound of Butter run by our grandparents Madge & Jimmy Aherne. The second-generation, their daughter Betty Aherne married a dashing army officer named Gerry Fitzgibbon and together they started Ahernes Seafood Restaurant specialising in the freshest of locally caught seafood from the bountiful fishing grounds off our coastline.
Their sons John & David Fitzgibbon built on the bedrooms in 1992. David is the Head Chef and ensures that the high food standards, started by his parents continue today. John & David run Ahernes with their wives Katie & Gaye who are always on hand to give personal advice to the weary traveller and ensure you recieve a warm Irish welcome.
