Here are some of the scheduled gathering events taking place in Youghal County Cork this year!

May 31st June 2nd at 9pm- Moby Dick Festival

This weekend of events will welcome a host of book-clubs, authors, readers and their families to the seaside town of Youghal, where Melville’s Moby Dick Novel was committed to film. Alongside literary workshops the festival will offer all the fun of a family festival as well. Events confirmed for families include street music, a monster teddy bears picnic, storytelling, treasure hunts, open air markets, cartoon making for kids and a sea creatures parade.

12th-14th of July - Queen of the sea event

Come along for a free weekend of activity & fun for all the family. Enjoy the Queen of the Sea contest, food festival, live open air music, fireworks, sand castle and crab catching competition, dog show & much more!

25th August - Youghal Medieval Festival

7th annual Medieval Festival which truly brings Youghal's history and heritage to life. A free family day out, this festival will feature medieval battle re-enactments, food fair, arts & crafts.

25th-27th of October- Halloween Festival

One of the most unique events in Ireland. Join An Bhean Uisce as she returns from the underworld for this special three day festival. Avoid the Ghoulish Knights of Youghal and don't get caught in the giant spider's web! Watch witches perform healing rituals, have your fortune told and meander through the historic streets on the Ghost Tours. Spooky gaveyards, storytelling, tales of the Supernatural and much much more in this one of a kind festival!

We had a lovely time in Aherne's townhouse and the tasting menu which we had was delicious. Overall the standard of food was very high. I had booked Ahernes as a birthday weekend away and my only complaint, which is quite small in the grand scheme of things was that I had been told that a cake would be provided on the night we had dinner in the restaurant. Unfortunately, there was an oversight and there was no mention of my Fiancees birthday despite two other tables in the restaurant having birthday also and being given a cake throughout the night - this further highlighted the fact that we got missed out and my Fiancee was alittle disappointed. Aside from this though, we had a lovely time and would certainly recommend this hotel.
Had two very relaxing days in Aherne's which were enjoyed by the fact that the Staff were so friendly and made us feel at home immediately. We enjoyed the food especially the FISH was sad to be going home. Will definitely make a return visit.
